While many fans thought that the fan was lucky, others criticized him for disturbing Roger Federer when he was enjoying the concert.
Tennis legend Roger Federer was recently spotted at the Coldplay concert at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. Many Coldplay fans were thrilled to see the retired tennis star among themselves. Now a clip from the concert is going viral that shows a fan getting his t-shirt signed by Roger Federer. In the clip, a young fan was standing just behind Roger Federer.
Interestingly, instead of wearing Coldplay merch or other concert-appropriate clothing, the fan was seen wearing a white Wimbledon t-shirt. Whether the fan coincidentally got lucky with his choice of outfit and spotting Roger Federer or if he planned it deliberately is unclear.
After getting his t-shirt signed, the fan pulls the Swiss player for a hug, before they both return to enjoying the concert. Now a video of this unexpected fan-signing moment is going viral. A tennis-centric Instagram page shared the clip and captioned it, “I’m jealous! I dream about it!” While many fans thought that the fan was simply lucky, others criticized him for disturbing Roger Federer when he was enjoying the concert. The critics also pointed out how Roger Federer’s wife Mirka Federer appeared annoyed by the fan’s intrusion and at one point even asked Roger Federer to put his attention back on the stage.
An Instagram user commented on it, “This guy went to the concert wearing a Wimbledon t-shirt !! Iconic.” Another person mentioned how Roger Federer is universally cheered every time he is spotted at an event and remarked, “He is gonna be the legend wherever he goes.”
Expressing slight envy towards the fan in the above-mentioned video someone else wrote, “Omg. It has always been at the top of my bucket list to meet Roger!!” An Instagram user lauded the fan for getting the Wimbledon shirt signed and wrote, “Always be prepared. The guy took his chance. The shirt would have been worth a fortune.”
“Fan was so inopportune though, pestering him for an autograph when he’s with his wife and kids. Had others done the same, he would have been forced to flee, ruining the concert for him and his family,” read another comment.
Talking about Mirka Federer’s intervention between the fan and Roger Federer, another person observed, “She is loyal and right to protect him! Otherwise, he could spend half the night giving autographs. Don’t you guys get it?”
