The mistaken object was her Diablo 3 soulstone-themed power bank.
Misunderstandings at the airport security checkpoints are common and often the security personnel mistake very genuine and harmless objects as dangerous or prohibited.
We all know that security is very tight at airports around the world and luggage is screened thoroughly during a security check before boarding a flight. The luggage passes through X-ray machines and nothing escapes the eyes of the prying security personnel. Misunderstandings at the airport security checkpoints are also a common thing. Often, the security personnel mistake very genuine and harmless objects as dangerous or prohibited. A woman from Vancouver, Canada, had to experience a very embarrassing situation when her mobile power bank was mistaken for something entirely else.
The woman, named Lucia, shared her ordeal on X and talked about how embarrassed she was when her power bank was mistaken to be a sex toy at the airport. Yes, you read that right but the unconventional shape of the power bank is the reason behind this. The woman said that after the bag was screened, she was first asked if she was carrying a knife. She declined but the very next question was whether she was carrying a ‘self-pleasuring device’. Lucia was left red-faced after the question and had no idea what the security personnel were talking about
I got stopped at security at the airport and they asked me if I had a knife, which of course I didn’t. Then they awkwardly asked if I had a “self pleasuring device” in my backpack and I was HORRIFIED….Turns out it was my Blizzcon exclusive Diablo III Soulstone Power Bank 😔 pic.twitter.com/GThkfCCkxu— lucia 🇦🇷🇨🇦 now looking for work! Upon further inspection, the mistaken object was her Diablo 3 soulstone-themed power bank. The soul stone is a fictional magical artefact in the horror adventure video game series Diablo, which is believed to hold the essence of demons. It is shaped like a cone and its shape might have given the impression of a sex toy but it did leave Lucia embarrassed nevertheless.
Commenting on the post, a user joked, “The person who asked the question was hoping you would call it a knife so he doesn’t have to ask the next question.” Meanwhile, a third user shared his bizarre incident, “Hey, I had a similar incident with this power bank at the airport. They pulled me aside and said ‘What is this, it looks weird’.” A fourth user wrote, “I thought airport security in the US required you to put a magical power bank in your checked baggage, right?”
