Cold coffee is the go-to summer drink for many coffee lovers. There are ample ways of making cold coffee, now a milk-free and low calorie version of the drink is going viral. This recipe was shared by chef Neha Deepak Shah, who is best known for being the first runner-up of MasterChef India Season 4 in 2015. In a short and concise Instagram video, Neha Deepak Shah shows her 17 lakh Instagram followers how one can get a tall glass of frothy cold coffee in just minutes.

The first step is to take a blender and add some ice cubes, coffee powder and sweetener of your choice to it. Then one needs to blend it till the ice cubes turn into a slush. After that one has to add some water into this mix and start the blender. Keep the blender on till you get a creamy and frothy drink. Then pour it in a tall glass and just like that no-milk cold coffee is ready. One can also add toppings like cocoa powder over the drink. Neha Deepak Shah claimed that this recipe has just five calories.

The crux of this drink lies in its frothy texture. One limitation of this recipe is that only those with a kitchen blender can make it work. The video of this recipe has over one lakh likes since it was shared on June 2. In the comments, many people bombarded the chef with questions or expressed their disbelief.

An Instagram user wrote, “Where’s the milk! How did it turn into a mill-like consistency when you only added water?” Another person asked, “You added very little water. How does the quality of the glass come?” Neha Deepak Shah replied to the second question and wrote, “Coffee has air holding capacity which makes it light.”

A person, who claimed to have tried the recipe, shared the experience and remarked, “Worst recipe ever I tried and it was so bitter and so weird tasting I tried to fix it with some milk and sugar but it ruined.”

Someone revealed that they have been making coffee this exact way for years and said, “Meanwhile I have been drinking this for the last 3 years. But didn’t make a reel of it.”

Another person observed, “Coffee without milk gives me a lot of anxiety. I learned my lesson after trying one from blue tokai. Let me try this with and without a dash of milk.”
