A troubling incident has emerged involving a woman in Bengaluru who claims she was threatened and abused by an auto driver booked through Namma Yatri. Vanshita, traveling with a child and two other women, recounted the harrowing experience in a detailed post on The ordeal reportedly occurred around 4 AM as she was returning home from a friend’s place. Despite her attempts to seek help by making SOS calls to customer care, her requests were reportedly ignored and the calls were disconnected.
“Had the most unsafe & scary auto ride of my life. Namma Yatri your driver threatened us, called us ‘c******’ and ‘m********’ & started coming close to us almost as if he would hit us SOS is of hardly any use, they listened to our plea & just disconnected the call,” she wrote on X.

Vanshita explained that the auto driver insisted on extra payment after they had put the wrong location, leading to a misunderstanding. However, the driver soon began to dispute the meter price, arguing that the app fare was too low. Vanshita and her companions calmly explained that they would pay the fare shown on the app. In response, the driver escalated the situation and caused a scene, shouting and abusing.

After entering their society premises, Vanshita and her companions sought help from the security guard. Vanshita recounted that seeing the driver’s aggressive behaviour, they made SOS calls and contacted the police. The driver, seeing her on the phone, demanded to speak to the person on call.

“I did not give my phone to him because it would have had unsafe and we were terrified at this point he started coming even closer to us and I told him firmly not to enter the gate or I will call my dad,” she wrote.

Despite several warnings, the driver kept yelling at them. “We quickly paid him the amount shown on the app and told him to back off he kept shouting still and then when I finally gave the address on the phone to the executive and said ‘please come fast, he is being almost violent now’ he Got scared and went back to his vehicle,” she added.

Vanshita also shared the auto’s number plate and a 2-second clip of the incident. She tagged Namma Yatri, Bengaluru Police and Traffic Police, writing, “What should one do in such situations? the SOS on the app doesn’t work and even the executives at 112 clearly DO NOT CARE we were on a call with them in such a panic state and they have not even gotten back to us to see if we’re safe!”
