Ophidiophobia is the fear of snakes.
The term lazy snake is used for those snakes that are less active and are in a lethargic state most of the time.
Snakes are a synonym for fear and are one of the most common phobias among humans. These are believed to be some of the deadliest creatures on earth. On hearing the name, we imagine a fast-moving creature in our minds. But do you know some snakes are very lazy and like to rest a lot? Not only this, they have to wait for hours for their food. The nature of snakes is determined by their physical structure, hunting strategy and habitat. Such snakes are usually big and heavy and they are incapable of moving fast.
Mahadev Patel, a snake catcher and snake expert from Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, said that the term lazy snake is used for snakes that are less mobile and are in a lethargic state most of the time. Due to their anatomy, hunting strategy and habitat, they like to rest most of the time. Boa constrictors, pythons and gaboon vipers are some of the prime examples, which are known for their lazy nature.
Boa Constrictor
These snakes are large and heavy. They are usually found resting on trees or the ground. To hunt, they attack suddenly and suffocate their prey by wrapping it around them.
Pythons
Pythons are large and heavy snakes. They remain lethargic most of the time and attack suddenly to catch their prey. They are mostly found in jungles, swamps and dense forests. It is one of the largest and heaviest snakes in the world. They are found resting in or near water most of the time. They are rarely active and attack suddenly to catch their prey. Their habitat is swamps, rivers and reservoirs.
Gaboon Viper
The Gaboon Viper is known for its heavy body and sluggish nature. This snake rests on the ground or among the leaves and makes a deadly attack to catch the prey.
