The post received a tremendous response from pet parents, with many coming forward to donate blood for the 7-month-old dog.

Ratan Tata, the former chairman of Tata Sons, is seldom active on social media. But the whole world knows about his affection for animals, as he is often seen posting about them. Recently, the industrialist urged the people of Mumbai to help out a dog with blood donation through a post on the social media platform Instagram. He has made a heartfelt appeal to all pet parents to find a blood donor for a seven-month-old dog in dire need of a blood transfusion at the Small Animal Hospital in Mumbai. The internet has lauded the entrepreneur’s commitment to animal care.

Ratan Tata uploaded a picture of a dog in need of a blood transfusion and wrote, “I would really, really appreciate your help. This 7-month-old dog at our animal hospital needs an urgent blood transfusion. He was admitted for a suspected tick fever and life-threatening anaemia. We urgently need a dog blood donor in Mumbai.” Through the post, he has also listed the dog donor eligibility criteria. The post specified the eligibility criteria for potential dog donors:

1. The donor dog must be clinically healthy and between 1 to 8 years of age.

2. The dog should weigh about 25kg or more.

3. The dog should have been fully vaccinated, dewormed, and free from any major illnesses or tick infestations for at least the past six months.

The post received a tremendous response from dog parents, with many coming forward to donate blood for the 7-month old dog. Soon, the request was closed after the dog received the blood. To thank the dog parents and dogs who came forward, Ratan Tata shared another post with pictures of the dogs who donated blood. He wrote, “I would like to thank the spirit of Mumbai and Casper, Leo, Scooby, Ronny, and Ivan for coming forward and donating blood for the patient in crisis.” He also mentioned that the blood of one of the dogs has been cross-matched, and he hopes that the recovery will be quick.
