A 71-year-old US woman who always wanted to take part in a beauty pageant has finally lived her dream. Marissa Teijo participated in the Miss Texas USA pageant, which was organized in Houston. She was one of the 75 contestants.
Even though she couldn’t win the competition, everyone on the internet lauded her for participating and believing in herself. She also became the oldest woman to compete in the Miss Texas USA pageant.
A month before the event, Teijo expressed excitement, shared her picture and wrote, “I am delighted to be a part of this incredible new experience as a contestant in the Miss Texas USA pageant. In doing so, I hope to inspire women to strive to be their best physical and mental self and believe there is beauty at any age.”
Despite not winning it, she expressed gratitude to all the sponsors and her partners for believing in her and helping her achieve her dream. She wrote, “Thank you to all my sponsors- your support has meant so much to me. All of your generous donations have made my participation in Miss Texas USA possible.”
Teijo could participate in the pageant even at this age after all the age limits were lifted. As per the new rule, the pageant will allow women who are or have been married as well as women who are pregnant or have children to participate in the beauty pageant.
